Hermanus Public Library is the main Overstrand library for Hermanus town, in the Civic Centre on Magnolia Street. It lends books and audiobooks, offers free internet access for job seekers, digital literacy training and Libby e-book workshops, and runs reading and holiday programmes for children, a home-school programme, and outreach to local ECD centres and primary schools. It also visits retirement villages and, with the South African Library for the Blind, runs a mini library with audiobooks and assistive devices. Named Public Library of the Year at the Western Cape Cultural Awards (two years running), with a Best Friends of a Public Library award for its volunteer Friends group. It also hosts author events and book launches. Membership is free for Overstrand residents (bring your ID and proof of address), and members can also borrow free e-books and audiobooks through the Libby app.
