Zwelihle women demand relief

About 70 women from Zwelihle marched to Overstrand Municipality’s offices in Hermanus, calling for relief from rising municipal tariffs and improved service delivery. Led by 89-year-old Cynthia Mcinjana, the group highlighted how utility bills are consuming old-age grants and leaving vulnerable households struggling to afford food.
Their memorandum called for a reviewed indigent-support system, affordable RDP household tariffs, reduced auxiliary charges, better services and meaningful engagement with communities.

Deputy Mayor Elnora Gillion undertook to present their demands to decision-makers.
