Top playwright tackles thorny issue

Award-winning playwright Mike van Graan’s latest work, Never, Never and Never Again, explores xenophobia through a scripted dialogue staged in Hermanus.
Presented by local performers at Volmoed Retreat Centre and in isiXhosa in Zwelihle, the production brought diverse perspectives on migration, prejudice, government responsibility and human rights to audiences.
Its aim is not to dictate opinions, but to encourage informed discussion, critical thinking and empathy. With translations into isiZulu and Afrikaans, the play could spark important conversations in schools nationwide.
