Temporary Suspension of Herbicide Spraying Programme

The Overstrand Municipality has temporarily suspended the herbicide spraying programme in municipal areas following concerns raised by residents regarding the potential environmental impact of the active ingredients contained in these products.
This decision follows recent engagement with members of the public, during which concerns were raised about the use of herbicides and their potential impact on local biodiversity.
The Municipality will investigate and evaluate more environmentally friendly alternatives before any decision is made regarding the continuation of the programme.
We appreciate the constructive feedback received from residents and their patience during this process.
