Operation chameleon rescue

A vital rescue operation is being planned along the R43 between Hermanus and Onrus.
Before widening begins, volunteers from Whale Coast Conservation will search the roadside at night for Cape Dwarf Chameleons, which are difficult to spot by day but reflect torchlight. Motorists may see lights and warning triangles during September.
Please slow down, remain alert and do not stop beside the busy road. Your cooperation will help keep volunteers safe while protecting these remarkable reptiles as roadworks begin nearby soon.
