Municipality to host e-waste collection drive in Overstrand on 14 October

Electronic waste is the world’s fastest-growing waste stream, and many unused electronics in homes and garages are taking up space.
On 14 October 2026, the Overstrand Municipality joins the global movement to tackle this crisis with a major drop-off event at the Hermanus Waste Material Recovery Facility, Gansbaai Landfill Site and the Kleinmond Transfer Station. Items can also be dropped off between 09:00 and 15:00.
E-waste is any electronic or electrical device powered by batteries or electricity, such as phones, laptops, TVs, appliances, and lighting.
If not disposed of correctly, e-waste can be toxic, is not biodegradable, and can harm wildlife, pollute air and water, and disrupt ecosystems.
