A museum given over entirely to whales, and to the southern right in particular — the species that brings people to this coast every winter. The building was completed in 1998 and its centrepiece is the skeleton of a southern right whale, recovered in 2003 and hung above the floor. The first phase of the exhibition opened in 2007, with displays in several languages. Part of the Fishermen’s Village above the old harbour, and covered by the same ticket as the Old Harbour Museum and De Wet’s Huis.
