Non-profit 24-hour residential frail care home in central Hermanus since 1987
SOFCA is a registered non-profit residential frail care facility in central Hermanus, close to the provincial hospital, Mediclinic and day hospital. Established in 1987 and moved into its current 63-bed home in 1994, it offers full-time nursing care rather than independent or assisted-living units — residents, who must be over 60, stay in shared or ward-style rooms and receive three meals a day, a full laundry service, 24-hour professional nursing, and a weekly program of activities. As a non-profit, SOFCA relies on donations and fundraising alongside resident fees to cover the true cost of care.
