Rossouw Modern
Hermanus's veteran contemporary-art dealer, since a 1990s fisherman's cottage
Closed Opens tomorrow at 09:00
Rossouw Modern was founded by Jozua Rossouw, who began selling his own work at South African markets in 1991 and opened the original Fisherman's Gallery in Hermanus in 1995, which grew into today's Rossouw Modern. The gallery still trades from that same historic fisherman's cottage on Harbour Road, and Rossouw later expanded into two further Harbour Road spaces — SPACE Modern and SPACE Curated — for dedicated exhibitions. It represents a large stable of South African contemporary artists, from well-known names such as Esther Mahlangu, Dr Willie Bester and Anton Smit to emerging talent, and offers international shipping and art advisory for collectors.
