Maxitec started in 1997 as a local point of presence for one of South Africa's first dial-up ISPs, and has grown into a full local internet and IT provider: fixed-wireless WiFi from its own towers across Hermanus (CBD, Rural and Lite coverage zones), Fibre via Openserve and Lightstruck, MTN/Telkom LTE and 3G, email hosting on @hermanus.co.za, @overberg.co.za or @maxitec.co.za addresses, VoIP, domain registration, web hosting and website design.

As a small local team rather than a call centre, Maxitec offers month-to-month contracts with no lock-in, a discounted 30Mbps fibre package for pensioners over 65, and is an ISPA member with a valid VANS licence.
