Now in its 35th year, the Hermanus Whale Festival is the world's only Eco-Marine Festival: three days built around the theme Discover, Protect, Educate, celebrating the annual return of Southern Right Whales to Walker Bay. Expect land-based whale watching along the cliff path, an interactive Eco-Marine Village at the waterfront, live music all weekend at Gearing's Point, the Whale Festival Fun Run, the Whales and Wheels classic car show, beach volleyball at Grotto Beach, an arts and crafts market, kids’ activities and a treasure hunt, plus the Street Parade and Clean & Green conservation campaign. General entry is free — a few standalone activities (like the fun run) have their own separate ticketing.
