Founded in 1994 by parents seeking Waldorf education for children in the Zwelihle and Mount Pleasant communities, Hermanus Waldorf School grew from a single nursery classroom to its current Sandbaai site under a 99-year municipal lease secured in 1999. It follows Steiner-Waldorf methods — blending academics with music, woodwork, handwork, gardening and eurythmy — for ages roughly 3 to 13, and in 2026 added a TVET vocational stream to extend its upper school. Affiliated with ISASA, the SA Federation of Waldorf Schools, and the Enlighten Education Trust.
