Hermanus Primary School's lineage runs back to a church school founded in 1868, merging in 1897 with a separate Dutch Reformed Church school to form the town's "Public School"; it became a state-aided school in 1992. Today it teaches Grades 1-7 in parallel Afrikaans and English streams under the motto "We care!", led by principal Mnr J.G. Giliomee, who was appointed in July 2024.
