For more than 25 years the Hermanus Music Society has contributed to the cultural life of the Overstrand, presenting more than 160 concerts that pair outstanding local and international classical musicians with premium wines and gourmet canapés. HMS hosts seven concerts a year, bringing together distinguished musicians and a sophisticated audience of classical music enthusiasts and wine connoisseurs. The society also supports the nurturing of young musical talent through development initiatives in under-resourced communities. Concerts began at Bouchard Finlayson winery in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in 2002, and since 2023 have been held at the Gereformeerde Kerk in Sandbaai, chosen for its excellent acoustics and ample parking.
