Hasher Family Wines — Vineyards in Hemel-en-Aarde Valley

Hasher Family Wines is a family-owned and run wine estate in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, on a 180-hectare farm that is home to many plant and animal species. Owners Frederik and Céline Hasher moved from Belgium in 2021 and make cool-climate wines that reflect the valley: Nauticus Sauvignon Blanc, Marimist Chardonnay, Ernest Pinot Noir, Cyriel Cabernet Franc and Batrachella Pinotage.

The Tasting Room looks over the vineyards, mountains and the distant ocean. Tastings start at R115 for the Classic tasting of three wines; a picnic platter for two to share is R420; and two-hour vineyard and cellar tours for small groups (4 to 12 guests, by appointment) start at R650 per person. In summer the farm opens its lawn for Sunset Sessions, Barefoot Yoga, Sip & Bloom and Little Farm Hands, from mid-December to mid-January: see the events on Local Lowdown. The Hasher Family Wine Club gives members priority access to new vintages, events and tastings.
