Fick's Pool
Walled 1930s pool in the rocks at Westcliff
A saltwater pool built around 1933, where a concrete wall closes off a rocky cove below Marine Drive in Westcliff, on the way to the New Harbour. Waves break over the wall and keep the water turning over. Sandy bottom, high rock faces on either side, wooden decks stepped along the cliff, and lawns and benches above. Long a favourite with local children. Named for the Fick family — accounts differ on which one.
